VitaVygovskaParticipant
hi Julie,
i think we talked through many of your questions in the last class. i’m happy to answer any others that may come up.
about my role as a CEO vs. WTS – i plan to talk about it in this week’s class on People and staff.
vVitaVygovskaParticipantHi Rosemarie, you need to go on their website and download the app. Just follow the instructions. Yes, it would be downloaded onto your computer. You can pin the icon onto your desktop. Hope this helps!
VitaVygovskaParticipanthi Brook,
i bet the EW conference was great!
can’t wait to hear all about it…what you’re referring to is a normal and common occurrence.
for various reasons, most of which are very valid.we’ll talk more about it in the People class and then in the Mindset class.
VitaVygovskaParticipantSue,
my plan is this:
1. share the financial side of AT (one of the future lessons)
2. scrub it from actual customer info
3. share my AT with you, so that you have the set-up already done and all you’ll need to do is just fill it in and start using itif this doesn’t work, for technical reasons that i’m not aware of at the moment, then whoever you get to set up your own system (AT or othewise) can watch the presentation and see for themselves how the everything flows together.

VitaVygovskaParticipanthi Rosemarie,
so happy to hear that you’re committed!
and yes, having a ‘techy’ in your back-pocket is very important.
now let’s assign a date to this: by when do you think you’ll have this done?
vVitaVygovskaParticipantHi Peggy,
love it!!
i saw your chart – you did a great job.
now take one block (any block, or biggest one, or smallest one, or one that you dislike the most), and write it out, so that it can delegatable.
which block will it be?
let us know.
vVitaVygovskaParticipanthi Mary,
i understand that it’s hard to let go of the paper trail if that’s how you’re used to doing things.
one way you can approach this is continue with paper IN ADDITION to capturing everything in a cloud-based system.
this way, you’ll calm down your nerves AND start setting yourself up for the future version of yourself.
eventually, you will hopefully find yourself letting go of paper and moving more and more towards cloud-based app.
it’s a process, it may take some time.
treat it like a yoga practice.

Adriana, the coordinator for the university, is in charge of all uploads/downloads.
She is looking into it.
You’re not missing anything.
Well, you are, we all are 🙂 it’s just not there yet.
-v.VitaVygovskaParticipanthi Georgi,
looks like they accidentally uploaded the 1st week video twice. i alerted Adrianna – director for LuUniversity. Stay tuned, it’ll get fixed.

v.VitaVygovskaParticipanthi Mary,
yes, i agree with you 100%.
my absolute worst experience is when i pour my heart and soul into a project, just for the customer to give me a metaphorical shoulder shrug and matter-of-factly inform me she decided to go with someone else.
honestly, this was one of the reasons i gravitated towards working with designers where the orders are more relationship-based vs. transaction-based.
pre-qualifying a customer is what this is about, which is part of the sales process.
did you tell me you took a sales class recently?

does your seamster work by himself? Does he have sewing help?
VITA: Boris works by himself currently. He works about 10hour days. About 6days a week. He is a VERY hard worker.
We are in the process of looking for an assistant for him.
We are also trying out a part-time seamstress who can work without his supervision.Julie Murphy

what is your typical turn around time between site visit and estimate….I know it can vary based on job size but in general…do you have a standard of practice
VITA: we are striving for under a week at most.Peggy Morgans
01:04:11
Do you charge for a site visit before estimating?
VITA: if it’s a designer – NO. If it’s an end consumer, we pre-qualifyrosed

Is the commission after all expenses are taken out?
VITA: Commission is based on revenue minus installationgeorgianaschwandt

At some point, I would appreciate knowing the payment structure for the people who are working in your business.
VITA: sure. We can talk about it more in ‘people’ moduleMary Cardinale
01:17:59
What do you use for a customer database?
VITA: Airtable – module #2georgianaschwandt
01:24:03
Is the Summary Estimate done after the customer has decided to work with you OR is it a way to give a potential customer an idea of the cost of the project?
VITA: Summary Estimate – then deposit – then Detailed Estimate
We’ll talk more about it in Module #3 – Systems and ProcessesPeggy Morgans
01:38:19
Do you have production processes?
VITA: i do, but not as good as i should. The business end is much more systematized for me than my production end. Adding it to the list 🙂georgianaschwandt

Thanks Vita!VITA: thank you guys for the kind words – they feel soooo good!!
Let’s get you systematized and OUT of the weeds!!!
here comes module #2 – hold on to your blankets 🙂VitaVygovskaParticipanthi Jens,
thank you so much for sharing!!
let me ask you another question: what does ‘healthy balance’ mean to you?
specifically: how many hours per week would you like to work, which days do you want to have off, what will you do on those days, how will your work differ between seasons (i.e. summer vs. winter), etc. The more granular you get with yourself, the better you’ll know what to do, and the more you’ll know that you got there.
v.VitaVygovskaParticipantJens,
good for you to stop and think about the 80-20 rule as it applies to the activities in your business.
so let’s hear it: Which activities create 80% of your results?
😉VitaVygovskaParticipantPeggy,
haha! the rule of ’80’ seems to be following me everywhere 🙂i hear you: the custom nature of our work is definitely an obstacle in getting 100% systematized.
that’s why i give myself grace and permission to only do it 80% of the time.
80% is a whole lot better than 0%. -
