Hi, I’m Trudi Smith – Trudi Smith Designs, upstate NY. My IG is @trudismithdesigns. So glad to get to know you all!
I am still not clear why we are insisting on a .dwg file?? There are other file types and other “CAD” softwares. Depending on the software, they can open a .dwg or import it. If you are not sharing files but providing drawings what file types they are prepared in should not matter???
Jenny- Do these plans actually need to be in .dwg format, I assume .PDF is fine as those without CAD will not be able to open a .dwg?
I am not understanding why you are mandating CAD? Maybe it is because I am not in a major market? I can download .dwg into my software. I spent a lot of years in CAD, are we looking to add directly to a drawing package? That has never been my experience with kitchens and baths. As a side note, I am working with another group and it has been recommended that in many states if you are not under an architect “drafting” that you do not do it. The liability is huge. I just dropped offering drafting as a service because of liability issues. I think we need a better understanding of what is being asked for as “drafting”? A bit confusing.
