I have always printed them, attached them to the bank/cc statement they reconciled against and then filed them in a binder for all things paid that year. This saved me when I was audited. However, after taking Vita’s class, I’m now thinking I want to do it that way, but digitally. The binders of papers and receipts I’ve accumulated over the years has become cumbersome, and Vita has made me think about what would happen if I had a fire. I’d lose so much. One of my goals is to get all of 2022 digitized in this way. It would save me some shelf space and peace of mind. Digitally, you can then put a copy in the client’s folder too. I have not been consistent at that in the past.

Thank you Vita for providing this class. Here is a review for you.

Vita’s class has opened my eyes. Not only has she shown us various ways to manage our business, she has gone into many details and opened up her business to us without reservation. She has patiently walked us through processes we can put into place in order to make our own businesses more efficient, she has also tried to keep us from making the same growing pains she has, and she has answered any and all questions that have arisen. She is full of knowledge, experience and patience. All of which is an excellent combination for an instructor to guide you through this process. I have learned so much and am in the process of implementing all that I have learned. I can’t wait to see where it all takes me. I know the return on investment from this class will be greater than 1000x once I have everything set up and in place. Thank you Vita for bringing this course to us!

Vita this was an awesome class! I have been wanting to streamline my responses to clients and my quoting process for a long time. I knew there was a better way out there, but hadn’t taken the time to put it all together or think it through. You helped accelerate that process for me today. You’ve got my wheels turning and in an effort not to overwhelm myself, I’m going to start creating them as I do them. Instead of trying to do everything all at once, doing it as I go is such a great idea. It’s a great start to feel like I’m accomplishing things too. Thanks for opening up your business for us to see better ways!

Lisa you have great questions and concerns. Many that we all have, even if we haven’t voiced them yet.

To Vita’s point, I have tried to do this, giving myself a specific time of the week to work ON the business. When I do it, I feel so productive and excited about the future of my business. However, I have not yet been as committed as Vita and it is a struggle. I love the idea of going somewhere else, away from everyone and all distractions. I think this is going on my calendar for sure!

As for the SOP, another way to do it I have found easy is to video tape yourself talking through the steps you take. You may not get the greatest angles in the actual video, unless you’re some camera wizard, but you most likely can set up the camera to view the overall project. You can talk about each step you’re taking and why. Some videos may be longer than others and they may be really boring to watch later. But if you’re like me, it’s hard to write down everything you do and when it’s read back, it’s not always interpreted the way we think it will be. Someone else mentioned the video method and I love it. Right now, these are just for me. I could literally go back and transcribe them too if I wanted. But in the future, if I higher people, I could make them watch that video. Visual learning always helps me more too. As they improve on the techniques, they could update the video themselves. Keeping a video library on Dropbox or someplace like that makes it easy to share also if needed with new employees. Just an idea. It’s been working for me. 🙂
