jennyslingerlandParticipantIf I did not get to your question in the chat box yesterday, can you put it here. Unfortunately the chat was not saved. Thank you for your patience as we learn to navigate this new platform, Lu’s team has a call with the developer today to work out some kinks. 🙂

katherine.lorkovicParticipantHi Jenny, I’m planning to receive help with drafting by someone who uses a program called QuickCAD. Files can be saved as .CAD, .DWG, .DXF, and PDF’s. Will this be sufficient – or is AutoCAD work a requirement?
Thanks!11-03-2021 at 6:07 pm #22831
jennyslingerlandParticipantKatherine, I believe as long as you have a .dwg file you should be good!

trudi.smithParticipantI am still not clear why we are insisting on a .dwg file?? There are other file types and other “CAD” softwares. Depending on the software, they can open a .dwg or import it. If you are not sharing files but providing drawings what file types they are prepared in should not matter???

ParticipantJenny, What program do you use to draw the bathroom elevations. My CAD drafter uses Auto Cad but only uses line drawings. I liked that the vanity, mirror, etc. looks like the actual product. Thanks, Donna Wood

jennyslingerlandParticipantDonna,
Your drafter will do it in CAD and then you would add images on top, like we did if you want it to look like ours. We use a program called Keynote on our Apple computer. We simply take a snap shot of the material and then put it overtop of the cad.

christine.conte-0726ParticipantHi Jenny,
I had a question with product coming in. How do you communicate with the contractor what has come in? Is it kept on-site? If they place the order, are they responsible for checking that the product that came in is the correct style and finish? If you order something, how do you communicate that it is on-site? And with today’s procurement stuggles, who gets back order notifications and makes the call to reselect
need be?
thanks! 🙂11-16-2021 at 8:28 pm #23119
jennyslingerlandParticipantHi Christine,
Once you give the builder your spec book, your job is basically done in regards to the materials. It is the builders responsibility to make sure that the vendor’s order matches what is on the finish schedule. Also, it is the vendors responsibility to give all information to the builder in regards to delivery. If they need a reselection they will let you know. Given the regularity of things being out of stock, I would have it in your contract that reselections are charged by the hour.
Hope that helps! -
